Fears & Phobias

Helping You Overcome

Fears & Phobias

Are you struggling with a phobia? Modern therapy for your phobia could be the solution

Fear is an important part of being human. When we are in physical danger it’s vital to remove ourselves from danger as fast as we can. Once the danger is past the fear subsides and our body settles down again. But sometimes the experience attaches to something else often completely unrelated and a phobia is born.

Modern therapy for phobias is an excellent, drug free treatment to combat your phobia, whatever that may be.

A phobia can cause distress and restrict day to day life. This fear can become overwhelming and even debilitating. And left unchecked it can grow worse or make life more difficult. If you’re reading this it may well be that you agree from your own experience.

Phobias come in all sorts of “shapes and sizes”: they may relate to some specific incident you experienced such as an uncomfortable experience at the dentist or it may be something you have learned from childhood from a parent or sibling such as places to avoid. Of course, sometimes these can be useful but when they take over our whole way of life then you are likely to benefit from my skills.

However, the good news is you don’t need to feel stuck or let this weigh you down. Together we can change that.

How do we eliminate fears and phobias?

Modern therapy for phobias is an excellent, drug-free treatment to combat your phobia, whatever that may be. When we see a large lorry hurtling towards us we want to get out of the way quickly. So fear can be a useful thing. It’s just when it goes wrong and turns into a phobia that it can cause distress and restrict day to day life.

This fear can become overwhelming and even debilitating. And left unchecked it can grow worse or make life more difficult. If you’re reading this it may well be that you agree from your own experience.

Even the most severe phobias can be overcome with hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy for phobias is a relaxing process that focuses on helping you regain control over your own thoughts.

  • Phobias can improve in only 2 or 3 hypnotherapy sessions
  • Hypnotherapy results are long lasting – often permanent!
  • Hypnotherapy is relaxing and non-invasive

Common fears & phobias include:

  • Fear of flying
  • Fear of spiders
  • Fear of heights
  • Fear of needles
  • Fear of medical settings such as hospitals or dentists
  • Fear of open spaces
  • Fear of enclosed spaces
  • Fear of snakes
  • Fear of social situations
  • Fear of thunder and lightning

Why do we have fears and phobias?

There are many things that people fear from heights to spiders. Some of these fears are natural but others develop over time with exposure to certain stimuli. These fears can make it difficult for some people to function normally or enjoy activities they used to enjoy before they developed a fear or phobia like flying on an aeroplane.

Some people develop fears and phobias after experiencing an event that triggers their fear. For example, you might develop a fear of flying after being on a terrible flight with bad turbulence. This can leads to panic attacks before taking flights in future, making it difficult to fly.

Some fears and phobias are learned from other people. A parent with a fear of spiders can pass this fear onto their children.

For some fears and phobias are a natural response to a perceived threat such as heights or needles. Fear responses are controlled by the amygdala in our brain which controls reactions to emotions like anxiety or anger. The amygdala also triggers the release of hormones that generate feelings like panic or fear.

Some people have a genetic predisposition to develop anxiety disorders or phobias, which is where they are more likely to experience certain fears and phobias earlier on in life.

Fears, especially when they progress into phobias can be limiting, holding you back. The good news is that hypnotherapy is extremely powerful in treating fear.

If you experience frequent anxiety or phobia symptoms, including panic attacks and avoidance of certain situations, hypnotherapy may be an ideal treatment option to help with your fears.

How Can I Help?

Modern therapy techniques can help with all types of phobia – no matter how obscure the trigger or how strong the fear.

The feelings that come with a phobia are very real such as trembling, nausea, feeling dizzy, breathlessness or just a tight feeling in the chest.

So don’t delay. Don’t let it get any worse. Take action now. You can learn to take charge of your life again and stop avoiding things.

The modern approaches I use can be very effective and can work very fast. You can improve in as little as 2 to 3 sessions and usually, the benefits are permanent.

Let’s Do Something About It

Early on we will calibrate where you are so we can track your progress.

We’ll explore in as much depth as you feel comfortable with, what you feel has contributed to or caused your problem and look at ways in which we can release that so that, from the beginning, we are focused on changing your mindset.

We’ll use a variety of modern therapeutic approaches to assist in this process and I’ll teach you tools and techniques to last a lifetime as we move you forward to living life with ease and confidence.
