Helping You Overcome

Psychosexual Dysfunction

Is something holding you back in the bedroom? I can help

It is perhaps not surprising that in modern society people experience some form of sexual dysfunction. Given all the freely available insights into sexual performance, it can expose/leave someone expecting world-class performance, and if this is not achieved then they feel like a failure.

Very often there is little real opportunity to explore this in a safe environment where there is no judgement. Simply an opportunity to say freely what the concern is.

Working with me, you can expect to be listened to and the underlying influence which is likely to be one of shame, embarrassment or guilt, to be explored in a respectful way.

Enjoy Sex Again.

How do we overcome sexual dysfunction?

The human condition is exciting but full of so many contradictions: why when sex can be so enjoyable can it be difficult to find pleasure.  Sometimes we can have experiences that interfere significantly with our ability to open up to the possibility of enjoyment.

For many looking beyond the needs of procreation; sex is about pleasure and can even be a deeply spiritual experience so resolving some of our deep inhibitions might be worth investing in.

Sometimes psychological problems can interfere with our ability to have or enjoy sexual experiences. It may be previous experiences have left you afraid of sex or anxious. Perhaps it’s erectile dysfunction. Whatever the presentation, hypnotherapy can help.

Hypnotherapy can often alleviate the limiting psychological factors enabling you to enjoy sex again. Often I don’t even need to know the full details to help overcome the difficulties you are facing.

Why do we experience sexual dysfunction?

Often people feel uncomfortable discussing the subject of sexual dysfunction. This in itself can help add to the psychological manifestations. We are complex creatures and there can be many reasons we experience problems with sex even if we have a deep desire to experience it and enjoy it.

Many factors influence our subconscious feelings around sex. These can stem from early opinions and beliefs of others, such as sex being dirty or shameful to previous experiences of abuse. We are all unique and the reasons for experiencing psychosexual dysfunction vary greatly. Problems often arise due to physical, environmental, or psychological factors; it is difficult to separate one from the other. For others a physical condition such as diabetes can lead to erectile dysfunction, this can cause anxiety and worry which compounds the problem further.

Some of the common causes include distorted body image, depression, anxiety, physical or emotional trauma, stress, fears and worry.

For some misinformation, religious beliefs and improper sex education can create these subconscious feelings towards sex. They can cause a conflict of values that make sex feel sinful or dirty.  These can then act as a trigger for psychosexual disorders.

The good news is that hypnotherapy can help with the manifestations of psychosexual dysfunction. If you experience difficulties with sexual experiences then reach out via the button below.
