Why You Keep Putting It Off
The truth about procrastination
A free live session for men who have been working under sustained pressure and suspect the version of themselves they used to be is still in there somewhere.
Wednesday 12th August | 12:30 BST | 1 hour | Live on Zoom
There is probably something on your list right now that has been there for weeks.
Not because you forgot it. Not because you do not know it matters. You think about it. You intend to start. And then the day takes over, and it is still there the following week.
You have probably already tried the obvious things. The early morning. The blocked-out diary slot. The accountability. None of it has moved the thing.
If that is where you are, this session is for you.
What this session is about
Most of what is written about procrastination is wrong.
Not wrong in a subtle way. Wrong in a way that explains why the standard solutions do not work: they are treating the wrong problem.
Procrastination is not laziness. It is not poor discipline. It is not that you need a stronger reason to start.
It is what happens when a well-functioning brain draws a rational conclusion from the evidence it has been given and decides, correctly, given what it knows, that starting is more expensive than it is worth.
Once you can see that mechanism clearly, the whole thing looks different. And a different-looking problem has a different solution.
What we will cover
- Why the brain withholds the resource that would have launched the initiative and why that is not a failure
- Why motivation is a prediction, not a feeling, and what that means for every solution you have already tried
- The space problem: why it is not the time that is missing
- Why the thing that stays undone is often the thing that is most yours and what that is telling you
- What actually changes the pattern, and why it works when the standard approaches do not
Is this you?
You are in the right place if you are a capable, experienced person, someone who gets things done, and yet there is a specific task, or a whole category of tasks, that you keep not starting.
You are in the right place if you have already tried the systems, the discipline, the accountability, and the thing is still there.
You are in the right place if you suspect the explanation you are carrying, that there is something wrong with you, is not quite right. And you want to understand what is actually happening.
A few things before you register
