Needle phobia, or trypanophobia, is one of the most common fears I encounter in my practice. This intense fear of needles can prevent people from seeking essential medical care, including vaccinations and blood tests.

As a hypnotherapist, I’ve helped many clients overcome this debilitating phobia. Here are some key points to understand:

  • Root causes: Needle phobia often stems from childhood experiences or learned behaviours.
  •  Physical symptoms: Sufferers may experience anxiety, panic attacks, or even fainting at the sight of needles.
  • Impact on health: This fear can lead to avoiding necessary medical procedures, potentially compromising overall health.
  • Treatment options: Hypnotherapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, and exposure therapy are effective treatments.
  • Self-help techniques: Deep breathing, visualisation, and distraction methods can help manage symptoms.

Remember, overcoming needle phobia is possible with the right support and techniques. If you’re struggling with this fear, consider seeking professional help to regain control of your health and well-being.

Here’s what Frances said: ‘My phobia with needles and drips meant that every visit to the hospital was preceded by me being physically sick. Although I knew I had to be there for my husband, I knew that he was worrying about me instead of concentrating on looking after himself. By the time I got back home, I was both physically and mentally exhausted.

After my session with you, the improvement was immediate, and the following day, the trip to the hospital was, although not pleasant, at least easier.’
